The Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria (SCAN), Ifako-Ijaiye Branch, held its highly engaging and impactful monthly meeting on Thursday, 12th June 2025, bringing together esteemed elders of the community for a gathering marked by camaraderie, purpose, and forward-looking initiatives.
Hosted in her Secretariat located at UNA Church, 246 Iju Road, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, in a welcoming atmosphere. The meeting served as a vital platform for addressing key issues affecting the welfare and wellbeing of senior citizens in the local government area and beyond.
Members deliberated on pressing concerns and constructive suggestions were shared and documented, with resolutions passed to engage relevant stakeholders for both immediate action and long-term advocacy.
A particularly joyful segment of the meeting was the celebration of June birthday celebrants among the members. The room was filled with songs, prayers, and heartfelt wishes as celebrants were honoured in a festive atmosphere, reflecting SCAN’s strong culture of unity and appreciation.
Another major highlight was the formal induction of new members, who were officially welcomed into the association. Each new member received the association’s identity card and a warm round of applause, signifying their integration into the SCAN family. The newly decorated members are:

In a move that underscores SCAN’s commitment to legacy and forward planning, the branch also inaugurated its Planning Committee for the upcoming 20th Anniversary Celebrations. The committee, made up of experienced and visionary members, has been entrusted with organizing a befitting celebration to mark two decades of impactful service, advocacy, and the upliftment of senior citizens.
In his closing remarks, the Branch Chairman, Prince Adedoja Olusegun, expressed gratitude to members for their continued dedication and participation. He reaffirmed SCAN’s unwavering commitment to championing the rights and welfare of Nigeria’s elderly population. He further encouraged members to stay engaged and proactive, noting that the golden years of life should be lived with dignity, care, and a strong sense of community.
