In a strategic move ahead of the July 12th Local Government Elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) rallied community leaders and stakeholders at the Community Development Committee Ojokoro LCDA meeting held on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, at the CDC Hall.
The monthly CDC meeting, which took on a political tone, was graced by the presence of top APC leaders and candidates who came to formally seek the support and blessings of the community for the party’s flagbearers.
Speaking on behalf of the CDC Chairman, Barr. S. O. Alabi, the 1st Vice Chairman, Alhaji Ismail Adeyemi, welcomed the APC leaders and their entourage, expressing the CDC’s excitement and willingness to collaborate towards a peaceful and successful election. He commended the party’s outreach efforts and reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to community-driven governance.
The Chairman of the APC Ojokoro, Hon. Jelili Oseni, led the delegation and addressed the gathering. He emphasized the vital role the community plays as the fourth tier of government and acknowledged its unwavering support over the years. He stated that while some of the APC candidates are active members of the CDC, it remains imperative for the party to officially present them to the community for endorsement and support.
Hon. Oseni then introduced the seven councillorship candidates contesting under the APC banner:

He further introduced Hon. Tunde Olalekan Oyekunle, the current Leader of the Council, as the Vice Chairmanship candidate, and finally presented Barr. (Mrs.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, as the party’s Chairmanship candidate for Ojokoro LCDA.
Barr. Rosiji, who also serves as the Auditor of the Ojokoro CDC, was warmly received, with the community expressing pride in her dual capacity as a politician and community development advocate. Her candidacy was described as a “twin joy” for the CDC, symbolizing the unity between community leadership and political representation.
In an emotional moment, Barr. S. O. Alabi, the CDC Chairman, expressed appreciation to the APC for selecting one of their own as the party’s flagbearer. In a rare gesture of humility and peace-building, he prostrated before the APC leaders, seeking forgiveness if the process of Barr. Rosiji’s emergence had offended anyone within the party hierarchy.
Also, speaking at the event, Hon. Hamed Idowu Tijani, the Council Chairman, appreciated the community for their unwavering support throughout his eight-year tenure. He encouraged residents to come out en masse and vote for all APC candidates, describing the party as a vehicle for continued progress in Ojokoro.
In her remarks, Barr. Rosiji expressed deep gratitude to the CDC and APC leadership for their faith in her candidacy. She urged community leaders to take the campaign message to every household, emphasizing the need for massive voter turnout.
“We must ensure our people come out to vote on Saturday, July 12th. Their vote must go to the party with the broom symbol – APC. Let’s remind them to use their index finger while voting to avoid voided ballots. This government is for the people, and we will make the people proud,” – she assured.
The well-attended meeting had in attendance several party chieftains including: Hon. (Dr.) Waleel Ipaye, Hon. Ade Osatuyi, Hon. B. J. Jimoh, Hon. Sanjo (Party SecretarykAlhaji Marufdeen, Alhaji A. Amosu, Hon. Bello, Hon. Teju Olaoye, Hon. Busari, among others.
On the side of the community, notable personalities included Alhaji A. A. Amusat, Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC), and Chief Lawal (Baba Ilu).
The atmosphere was one of camaraderie, mutual respect, and a renewed commitment to community and political progress. The meeting served not only as a campaign event but also a demonstration of grassroots democracy in action.
