In a grand reception held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Ifako-Ijaiye Community Development Committee (CDC) warmly received the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Team at the CDC Hall during their monthly meeting.

The visit was part of the ongoing campaign efforts ahead of the forthcoming local government elections, with the aim of seeking the community’s support – a strategic move given the CDC’s critical role in grassroots mobilization and development.

The APC Campaign Team was led by the Ifako-Ijaiye APC Chairman, Deacon Banjo Omole, accompanied by other party stalwarts. They were joined by the incumbent Executive Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, his Vice Chairman, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, and all seven Councillorship candidates contesting under the APC platform across Wards A to F.

The special meeting commenced with introductions and formal recognition of party leaders and candidates.

Pastor Samuel Opajobi, Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye CDC, delivered a rousing welcome address, lauding the exceptional support the CDC has received under Prince Usman’s administration. He cited specific achievements, including:

● Increased monthly impress for the CDC

● A consistent N5 million monthly commitment to the CDC hall project

● Robust sponsorship of the annual Community Day celebrations

● Strengthening and expansion of Community Development Associations (CDAs) across the local governmen, among others

These efforts, according to Pastor Opajobi, have led to notable accolades for CDAs within the Local Government, particularly CRWERA CDA (Kay Farm Estate) named Best CDA in Lagos State in 2022, and HARMONY ESTATE CDA emerging as Second Best in 2024.

He emphasized that these achievements are a testament to the proactive and inclusive leadership of Prince Usman, adding that the CDC, though a non-partisan body, is compelled by gratitude and vision to declare its unalloyed support for his re-election. β€œIt is only right to support a leader who has fulfilled his electoral promises and delivered unprecedented development across all sectors in the grassroots,” Pastor Opajobi affirmed.

In his remarks, Deacon Banjo Omole appreciated the CDC’s warm reception and urged the community to vote massively for the APC to ensure continuity in the delivery of transformative governance. He also presented the seven Councillorship candidates from Wards A to F, with their contact details shared to CDC members for community-level engagement.

Prince Usman, in his address, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support. Along with his running mate, Hon. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, he promised to consolidate on the gains already made and ensure more developmental strides across health, education, youth empowerment, infrastructure, and security. β€œA vote for us is a vote for sustained progress in Ifako-Ijaiye,” he declared.

The highlight of the event was the official launch of a commemorative book titled “The Shining Star” written by Odedeyi Stephen Olukayode – a publication chronicling the transformational journey, visionary leadership, and infrastructural milestones of Prince Usman’s administration.

The meeting ended on a high note, with the CDC and other stakeholders expressing unanimous and enthusiastic support for the APC Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in the forthcoming election.

The local government election holds on July 12, 2025.
